While the world rushed toward mass production, Hancock Bottling stayed true to the recipes that made the Upper Peninsula fall in love — small batches, real ingredients, and the kind of flavor that only time and patience can create.
"The taste your grandparents never forgot."
When the first bottling house opened its doors on Birch Street in the winter of 1895, Hancock was a town forged by copper miners and railroad workers — people who valued honest labor and honest flavors.
The founders believed that a soda shouldn't require a chemistry degree to understand. So they kept it simple: spring water from the Great Lakes watershed, real cane sugar, natural extracts, and a whole lot of patience. The result was a root beer so smooth it became the standard by which every other soda in the Upper Peninsula was judged.
Over a century and a quarter later, those same recipes still flow from our copper-clad bottling line. We've grown, yes — but we've never compromised. Every bottle that leaves our facility carries the same promise it did in 1895: nothing artificial, nothing rushed, nothing less than perfect.
From the iconic root beer that started it all to seasonal releases that spark anticipation every autumn — each bottle is a chapter in our ongoing story.
The original. Sassafras-derived flavor, real vanilla bean, and a finish so smooth it convinced a whole region that soda could be sophisticated.
Bold, warming, and unapologetically real. Made with freshly extracted ginger root — not artificial essence. The kind of ginger ale that clears your sinuses and warms your soul.
Velvety smooth with a vanilla profile that tastes like it was sourced from a real pod — because it was. The soda equivalent of a warm hug on a freezing January morning.
A cola that remembers when cola was a medicinal tonic. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and citrus peel give this one a complexity that mass-produced colas can only pretend to match.
Inspired by the brewing traditions of the Upper Peninsula, this soda captures the crisp, clean character of a well-crafted cream ale — without the alcohol. Perfect for any occasion.
Every year we experiment. Maple walnut in autumn. Peppermint mocha in winter. Each release is small-batch, carefully tested, and eagerly anticipated. Watch for what's next.
